1962 – 1980
In the Beginning Methodist churches were as scarce as trees in Cape Coral. That is until a group of 30 to 40 pioneers set out to create change – and became the innagural generation of what was truly Cape Coral’s First United Methodist Church. They started from scratch... otherwise known as the Cape Coral Yacht Club – and began laying the building blocks of their dream, many never anticipating those dreams would become reality for generations to come.
1980 – 2000
Growth through Youth was the charge swelling in the church as Cape Coral First grew to a new high point in its history. Facilities were in place in the form of an activities building, a multitude of programs, and even a Partridge Family style bus to shuttle youth to locations and activities beyond campus boundaries. And like the bus, the church was firing on all cylinders in its journey to share the passion of faith and pass it on to future generations. 2000 – Present
Challenges of Change are felt in any period of transition, and our area’s rapid growth and demographic shift presented new demands on Cape Coral First’s ability to keep up. But as with most struggles, lessons are learned and bonds strengthened and the church became aware of its need to adapt or fade away. The charge to bring new generations into the church family was heard. Gods Plan for the Church
All generations of Cape Coral First United Methodist, past to present, have been part of God’s plan. You need only look at our beautifully designed "Generations to Generations" Brochure to see how the past 45 years has been an unveiling of His plan. Now, when we ask ourselves for His plan to be revealed for the next moment... the next day... the next 50 years – How will we be called to serve His church?
What generations are already in the church and which ones will be? As our community grows and changes – How will we grow and adapt to bring future generations to know God’s love? Can we answer the call to tithe – to volunteer – to worship?... What part will you play? It’s time to ask for His plan be revealed in you.
