Sue Haupert-Johnson • Co-Pastor

I have served as Co-Pastor of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church since June 2004. God delivered me from my previous career as a trial lawyer by calling me into ordained ministry. I see my job as removing obstacles to the Holy Spirit so that God can freely move and transform the church and the community around it. I see the church as the only institution that exists to serve non-members.

I am married to Allen and we have a five-year-old daughter Samantha who gives us daily lessons on joy. I like to go to the gym, read, walk, and watch NCAA football and basketball. My favorite part of ministry is preaching and teaching.

Allen Johnson • Co-Pastor

I grew up in Gainesville around the University of Florida where my dad was a professor in the College of Agriculture. I attended the College of Agriculture in hopes of becoming a veterinarian but it was not to be. In 1985 I graduated from UF with a degree in Agriculture and went to work for the Farm Credit Bank as a loan officer.

When I was twelve years old I made a public professions of faith and joined the United Methodist Church. I became very active at Trinity UMC throughout high school and college.  In my late twenties I realized that I needed to commit my life, full-time, to the church. In 1990 I entered Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta.

In 1995 while serving as chaplain to Florida Southern College, I met my wife Sue Haupert. We were married in 1997, and in 2001 we were blessed with a daughter, Samantha Leigh Johnson. After serving separate churches for five years, Sue and I decided we would like to co-pastor a church. Then in 2004 we were appointed as co-pastors to this church.

John Wilson • Visitation Pastor

I was born in Hot Springs, SD on September 1, 1944 along with my twin sister Joyce. We have an older brother Bill. Our parents were educators in the public school. We grew up in a Christian home and were baptized at The United Churches in Hot Springs: a union of United Methodist, American Baptist Churches/USA, and Presbyterian USA. After graduating from what is now the University of Sioux Falls, SD – I attended and graduated from Andover Newton Theological School in Boston, Massachusetts. Throughout seminary I worked at an American Baptist church in Lynn. We have served churches in Connecticut, Iowa, Nebraska, Illinois and Wyoming.

Marcia and I were married on September 9, 1967. We have a daughter Heather and a granddaughter, Madelyn Delaney McCoy, who make their home in metro Atlanta, Georgia.

We became Florida residents in 1999. We began visiting Cape Coral in 1970 when Marcia’s parents opened their business. Marcia is a registered nurse and works at Hope Hospice House North. It is our privilege to serve our Lord through the ministries of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church.

Rebecca Benson • Director of Children’s Ministry

I am originally from Athens, Georgia, and I received my undergraduate degree from Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida where I majored in Religion with a concentration in Christian Education. I am heading back to school in the fall to pursue a Master’s Degree in Christian Ministry with a concentration in Servant Leadership at Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida. In my free time I love to scrapbook, bike ride, go to the beach and watch college football. GO DAWGS!

I am so honored to have the responsibility of sharing the love of Christ with the children of our Church. God is definitely at work in the lives of our children and their families, and I have been so blessed to be a part of it. I look forward to many more years of service as we work together to teach more and more children about the love of God.

David Benson • Director of Youth Ministry

I am originally from LaGrange, Georgia. I was born in 1983 and lived in Athens Georgia until 2002. I am currently working on a Degree in Psychology at Edison College as well as a Master's Degree from the Youth Ministry Institute in Orlando. I have worked with youth for three years as a small group leader, a counselor and now as the Youth Director. God has been gracious enough to call me into full-time ministry, and there is nothin else I'd rather be doing.

I love to play the guitar and sing, and I like anything that has to do with the outdoors. I was recently married in June of 2007 to a wonderful, Christian woman by the name of Claire Prince from Braselton, Georgia. We look forward to the start of our lives here in Cape Coral with all of you, and we are truly blessed to be a part of a great body of Believers.

Ron’s passion for engaging and passionate worship led to the development of Pneuma Worship Arts. Ron developed and leads “Pneuma” a worship consulting firm, serving churches across the state of Florida.

In his spare time, Ron enjoys several activities. Ron can be found in the “Sanctuary” (the name of his boat) when he isn’t in the office. He is an award winning Water Color artist, an aquarium enthusiast, and Ron professionally recorded and released a CD called, Through The Storm, Through The Night. Perhaps his greatest love is for his roommates, Michaylah and Malachi, both Siamese!

Joyce McCabe • Pastors’ Assistant

My husband Pete and I moved to Cape Coral in 1971 with our three children Peter, Stephen and Lisa. We enrolled the kids in Cape Elementary School, I joined the church staff as secretary in November of that year, and Pete started a construction company.

All of our children settled in Florida after completing their education. We now have three grandchildren: Jay, Kelly and Casey. We enjoy going to their sporting events including football, soccer and cheerleading. When we have time, Pete and I enjoy golfing and we love to visit the Colorado Rockies when we can.
