Dear Bride & Groom,

CONGRATULATIONS! The Church rejoices with you as you anticipate your Wedding Day. We want to do all we can to make your Wedding one of the happiest and highest events in your life.

A Wedding is one of the most sacred of all rituals, a ritual in which two people pledge themselves to each other in a covenant relationship with God. It is our desire to work with you in making your Wedding as beautiful and meaningful as it can be. The following Guidelines & Policies in existence to insure the integrity of the Church and that of your Family are not compromised... to this end – we extend our best wishes to you... and ask you to read carefully these Wedding Policies as approved by our Pastors and the Church Council of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church.

ARRANGEMENTS: You will need to contact the Church Office at 452-4051 or via email at weddings@ccfumcfl.org – as soon as possible – to arrange for the date on the Church Calendar and on the Pastor’s Calendar.

Once the date is set... there will need to be Pre-Marital counseling sessions with the Minister who will be officiating. This should be arranged at a time mutually agreed upon by everyone concerned. Plan on between four and six – one hour counseling sessions.

The Sanctuary and Chapel are available for your use. The Sanctuary seats several hundred people and the Chapel will accommodate approximately thirty people.

There are some dates that should be avoided. Weddings should not be scheduled for Holy Week or on Sundays, New Year’s Day, the Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, Labor Day
or Christmas.

MUSIC: Music selected should correspond with the holy aspect of the Wedding and is subject to approval by the Pastor. Our Organist is very knowledgeable and experienced and will be happy to provide beautiful music for your special occasion. You should contact the Organist for any special requests. Our Organist will play for all Weddings unless there is a conflict in the Organist’s schedule.

PHOTOGRAPHS AND RECORDINGS: It is understandable that you will want to record this significant hour in your life. The Pastor and the Church will aid you in this endeavor. To avoid the severe distraction caused by flashes – flash photography will not be permitted in the Sanctuary or the Chapel during the Service. No special lighting will be permitted. Any other type of recording of the service will require special permission from the Minister.

MARRIAGE LICENSE: It is the responsibility of the Bride and Groom to obtain their marriage license. Be sure it is in the hands of the Wedding Coordinator ten days prior to the Wedding.

REHEARSALS: Rehearsals are necessary for most Weddings. Normally, the Rehearsal is in the evening prior to the Wedding. It is imperative that all members of the Wedding Party be on time both for the Rehearsal and the Wedding. The Minister is in charge of the rehearsal and shall direct the proceedings of the rehearsal and all of its parts. (The rehearsal is a time to prepare for a Sacred Ceremony, not a time for gag.... all members of the party should show a proper respect for the place and the occasion).

DECORATIONS: Our beautiful Sanctuary has been carefully planned as a place of Reverent Worship so elaborate decorations are unnecessary and even out of place. Any arrangements or baskets of flowers shall be placed on stands and not on any piece of the Chancel furnishings. The florist must consult with the Wedding Consultant or the Faciliries Manager prior to placing flowers or decorations. No live rose petals are to be dropped on the carpeting... (silk petals are permitted). No tacks, pins or any other instrument shall be used which could damage the Chancel, the furnishings, woodwork or pews.

CANDELABRA'S are available. They belong to the Church, and may be used by prior arrangement. There is a fee for candles for the candelabra.

MISCELLANEOUS: There will be no smoking at any time inside any of the Church Buildings. There will be no alcohol brought in or consumed. Anyone under the influence of alcohol is subject to being denied participation in the service itself. There also will be no rice or birdseed thrown after the Wedding Party or after the Reception. It is up to the Wedding Party to see that this does not happen... even accidentally.

There is a kneeling bench that will be provided by the Church.
